Passenger train on Moscow-Tolyatti line damaged by unknown interference, driver hurt and service stopped
A Moscow-Tolyatti passenger train was sabotaged on the Racheika-Belasheika segment, injuring its engineer and halting traffic on the line.
According to the Kuibyshev Railway, train No. 66 on the Moscow-Tolyatti route was damaged by an act of external interference along the Racheika-Belasheika section of the Samara region, resulting in damage to the locomotive and the first car. The train’s engineer sustained injuries, while all passengers escaped harm. The incident forced a halt to rail traffic on that stretch, causing delays for two additional Moscow-Samara services, trains No. 16 and No. 10.
Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev reported that the sabotage occurred at the border between the Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, though he offered no further details. Authorities are investigating the cause of the interference and working to restore normal operations.
