Passport maker NexG rebrands to original name Datasonic after shareholder vote
NexG announced it will revert to its former name Datasonic, with the change effective Oct 7 and the same stock code retained.
Shareholders approved the renaming of NexG to Datasonic at the annual general meeting on Sept 30, according to a Bursa Malaysia filing. From Oct 7, the company's securities will be listed and quoted under the Datasonic name while keeping its existing stock code. The government had earlier explored buying Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd, valuing it at RM7.5 billion, but later abandoned the plan. Datasonic Technologies has supplied MyKads and Malaysian passports meeting ICAO standards since 2012.
