The Adelaide Film Festival reported that a patron suffered serious injuries in what it described as a homophobic attack after the South Australian premiere of the gay-pride film Jim Queen. The assault occurred in the CBD around 3:50 am near North Terrace and Bank Street while the victim waited for transport home, and police transported him to hospital where he was treated for broken bones. Festival chief Mat Kesting said the abuse began verbally before turning physical and expressed deep distress, while the festival and the co-host Feast Festival issued statements condemning discrimination.
