Paul Pelosi skips arraignment, pleads not guilty in Yountville hit-and-run

Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, failed to attend his arraignment for a hit-and-run that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend, leaving a team of high-profile attorneys to enter a not-guilty plea on his behalf. Napa County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville after a witness reported a northbound vehicle rear-ending a parked car, pushing its right tire onto the curb.

The witness said the driver briefly stopped before fleeing. Officers later located Pelosi’s brown convertible, heavily damaged, partially blocking Yountville Cross Road. Pelosi told investigators he knew he had struck something but was unaware of the victim and continued driving until his vehicle became disabled.

A preliminary alcohol screening recorded a 0.00 blood-alcohol level. A spokesperson for Pelosi and Nancy Pelosi said Paul personally apologized to the other driver and will take responsibility for the damage. The incident follows a 2022 DUI arrest involving Pelosi in Napa County.
