Paul Thomas Anderson's Concert Film of Cameron Winter Debuts at NYFF
Paul Thomas Anderson’s concert documentary featuring Geese frontman Cameron Winter will premiere on Oct. 1 at the New York Film Festival’s Alice Tully Hall.
A new concert documentary titled “Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall” will have its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 1, screening in 35mm at Alice Tully Hall. The film records Geese frontman Cameron Winter’s sold-out solo performance at Carnegie Hall the previous year and was both directed and shot by Paul Thomas Anderson using 35mm and 16mm formats. Music producer Ariel Rechtshaid, a Grammy winner, oversaw the soundtrack’s recording and production.
The project was co-produced by filmmaker Benny Safdie and produced by Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose. NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim lauded the work as a rare blend of generational talent and musical sensitivity, calling it a timeless concert movie. The premiere adds to a robust NYFF lineup that includes titles from Tony Gilroy, Ava DuVernay, and Takashi Yamazaki.
