Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Øksnes, Nordland
Emergency crews responded to a collision in Øksnes municipality, Vesterålen, where a driver hit a pedestrian who later died at the scene.
At about 20:30 on Tuesday, the emergency services were dispatched to Øksnes after a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. Operation leader Anders Johansen of the Nordland Police District confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor on site. Police have notified the victim’s relatives and are conducting both technical and tactical investigations. The road involved will remain closed for an indefinite period, with detour routes available.
