Pegasus Airlines has officially taken control of both ČSA and the Smartwings group, consolidating a fleet that exceeds 175 aircraft and securing orders for another 140 jets. The acquisition was concluded after obtaining all necessary regulatory clearances, with the Czech Competition Office approving the transaction on the condition that Pegasus relinquishes a portion of its summer slots on the Prague-Antalya corridor to another carrier.
A spokesperson for Smartwings confirmed that the brand will remain unchanged, preserving its daily operations, customer ties, and service offerings. The merger positions Pegasus as a major player in the Central European market, expanding its route network and operational capacity. No financial figures were disclosed in the announcement.
