Pemberton Township mayor jumps from chair after audience confrontation

Mayor Matthew Bianchini leapt from his seat and advanced toward a spectator during a council meeting, prompting staff to restrain him.

A regular Pemberton Township council meeting turned chaotic when former employee Kenneth Gerber and his attorney addressed the audience. While Gerber spoke, a resident displayed a middle finger, prompting Mayor Matthew Bianchini to stand up suddenly and charge at the person. Council members and several attendees restrained the mayor as he yelled, "I'm going to get you," and one outlet demanded his arrest.

Police confirmed they are investigating but have not released further details, and court records show no charges as of Thursday. Bianchini's wife, Nicole, later posted a Facebook comment attempting to explain the mayor's reaction, citing interruptions and a confrontational atmosphere. The mayor has not responded to requests for comment.
