Perlis immigration raids house, detains ten Thai nationals suspected of online gambling
Perlis immigration officers seized a house in Taman Choo Kee and detained ten Thai citizens believed to be running online gambling operations.
Around 12.40 am, Perlis immigration teams executed Operation Sapu at a residence in Taman Choo Kee after weeks of surveillance by the Immigration Department's Intelligence and Special Operations Division. The door was locked and occupants did not respond, prompting officers to break in. Ten Thai nationals, six men and four women between 23 and 36 years old, attempted to hide but were captured.
Authorities allege they were operating online gambling services, a breach of their Social Visit Pass terms, and detained them under Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. The sweep also produced 22 mobile phones, seven laptops and ten Thai passports for further investigation. The department emphasized that holding a valid pass does not permit work or illicit activities and pledged continued enforcement based on intelligence and public tips.
