Person of interest surrenders after Manhattan mother found dead, daughter unharmed

A man identified as Tiliek Shamel Thompson, 41, surrendered to officers at the 33rd Precinct after being labeled a person of interest in the fatal beating of 27-year-old Lovay Williams in Manhattan. His attorney Neville Dexter said the surrender came after online accusations, urging the public to withhold judgment until facts emerge. Police were called to Williams' home on 156th Street near Amsterdam Avenue for a wellness check on September 6 and found her deceased; her brother Nuquan Williams called the perpetrator unworthy of freedom.
Williams' 7-year-old daughter, De’lani, was present but unharmed, and relatives report she is coping with family support and school. A makeshift memorial with green balloons has been erected outside the building, and a GoFundMe page has been launched to aid the child. The case is being investigated as a possible domestic-violence incident.
