Personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine shows superior results in large trial
Merck and Moderna announced that their patient-specific mRNA melanoma vaccine extended disease-free survival for all 1,137 trial participants compared with standard therapy.
In a late-stage study involving 1,137 individuals with melanoma, each participant received a unique vaccine crafted from the mutations identified in their own tumor. The Merck-Moderna combination therapy kept patients cancer-free for a longer period than conventional treatments. This marks the first successful use of a fully personalized cancer vaccine in a large human trial.
