Perth lunch bar employee dragged by car during early-morning theft chase
A staff member at a Belmont lunch bar was pulled by a vehicle after pursuing a suspect who stole a handbag, sustaining serious injuries.
Surveillance video shows a hooded person entering the Wynyard Street lunch bar in Belmont just before 5 am, seizing a handbag and running outside. An employee pursued the suspect, approached the front passenger side of a white Holden Commodore, and tried to stop it, after which she was caught on the vehicle and dragged a short distance. She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.
Police later recovered the car in Willetton around 10:15 am and apprehended a 35-year-old woman. A second suspect, a 36-year-old woman from Bentley, was arrested the next day in Carlisle and charged with endangering life, health or safety and stealing. Both women are awaiting court appearances, with one scheduled for today and the other next month.
