Perth Man Faces Charges for Facebook Threats Against One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson

A 47-year-old Perth resident appeared in magistrates court charged with two counts of using a carriage service to threaten to kill One Nation leader Pauline Hanson via Facebook posts.

In Perth, 47-year-old Anton Raymond Illich was brought before a magistrate after being charged in July with two offenses for using a carriage service to threaten the life of One Nation leader Pauline Hanson. The charges stem from three Facebook posts he made on a One Nation members and supporters page, one of which declared he would "hunt her down and kill her." Illich, who chose to represent himself, described the messages as "stupid, crazy" and said they were intended solely to shut down his Facebook account, asserting he never posed a direct threat.

He expressed a willingness to plead guilty, though the court indicated the matter may be escalated to a higher jurisdiction. The magistrate ordered that Illich have no further contact with Hanson. The Australian Federal Police launched an investigation after being notified of the alleged online threat, and Illich remains on bail with his next court date set for October. Hanson had recently visited Western Australia for a business breakfast and a fundraiser in Midland that attracted dozens of protesters.
