Petlibro admits cloud glitch caused multi-day smart feeder outage
Petlibro's founder York Wu explained that a cloud-server failure disrupted the app and left some pets without food.
Petlibro, owned by Shenzhen Libro Technology Co., experienced a service interruption that prevented users from controlling their smart pet feeders via the companion app, reportedly leaving some animals unfed. Founder and CEO York Wu detailed that a cloud-server malfunction on Tuesday morning created a surge of data requests, exhausting memory and causing the system to crash. After an initial restoration, the influx of pending requests caused a second failure, prompting a systematic troubleshoot and a patched solution.
By Wednesday evening the service was declared resolved, though some users claimed lingering problems as of August 13. Wu said the firm has increased demand capacity and is preparing an audit protocol to address any future inconsistencies.
