Petronas and Japan's JOGMEC sign master LNG supply agreement
Petronas LNG Ltd and Japan's JOGMEC have executed a Master Sales and Purchase Agreement to boost LNG trade while balancing Malaysia's domestic needs.
During the LNG Producer and Consumer Conference 2026, Petronas LNG Ltd and Japan's Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) finalized a Master Sales and Purchase Agreement. The contract is designed to safeguard Japan's energy supply while respecting Malaysia's domestic LNG consumption. Datuk Adif Zulkifli, executive vice president and chief executive officer of gas and maritime business at Petronas, highlighted that the agreement reflects long-standing trust and provides a more agile framework for future supply arrangements.
JOGMEC operates under Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, implementing the country's energy and natural resources policies. The deal underscores Petronas' role as a reliable LNG supplier to Japan and its commitment to a secure, sustainable energy future.
