Petronas halts Songkhla export pipeline for safety check
Petronas announced that its joint venture Trans Thai-Malaysia has temporarily stopped the Songkhla Export Pipeline after detecting an issue during a routine inspection.
The pipeline, which transports gas from offshore fields in the Gulf of Thailand to processing plants and markets in Thailand and Malaysia, was shut as a precautionary measure. Petronas said the closure aims to protect the pipeline’s integrity and ensure safe operations. The line will only be restarted once it is confirmed to be safe.
Why it matters
The temporary shutdown could affect regional gas supply and market dynamics in Thailand and Malaysia.
