Petronas signs five-year LNG supply deal with Greece's Metlen Energy

Petronas' UK trading arm will deliver six LNG cargoes a year to Greece's Metlen Energy from 2027, totaling about 0.6 bcma.

Petronas' trading subsidiary, Petco Trading (UK) Ltd, secured a five-year contract to supply liquefied natural gas to Greece's Metlen Energy and Metals Plc. Starting in 2027, the deal calls for six cargoes each year, delivering about 0.6 billion cubic metres annually from Petronas' Atlantic portfolio. The agreement aligns with Petronas' strategy to expand its LNG footprint in Europe and the Mediterranean, leveraging its global trading capabilities.

Company officials said the partnership underscores a commitment to offering reliable, flexible gas solutions amid shifting energy-security and affordability concerns. For Metlen, the supply line enhances source diversification, strengthens procurement resilience, and supports Greece's ambition to serve as a regional energy hub. Both parties anticipate further collaboration to deepen LNG diversification and regional energy stability.

Why it matters

The deal boosts Greece's gas security and expands Petronas' presence in the European energy market.
