Peugeot recalls over 500 recent-model cars due to door-handle software fault
Peugeot is recalling 550 2024-25 model 308, 3008, 408 and 5008 vehicles because a software glitch can disable interior door handles while the engine runs.
Inchcape is recalling 550 Peugeot vehicles from the 308, 3008, 408 and 5008 ranges that were produced in 2024-2025. A software issue can cause the interior door handles to deactivate while the engine is running, which could prevent doors from being opened from inside the car. Peugeot warns that this may impede evacuation in an emergency, raising the risk of serious injury or death.
The company will fix the fault with a remote software update applied by an authorised dealer. A VIN list and the original recall notice have been made available, and owners are urged to schedule a service appointment by contacting Peugeot Australia.
Why it matters
The recall prevents a safety hazard that could trap occupants inside a moving vehicle.
