Pharma heir Frank Binder lists LA cliffside mansion for $35 million amid $2 billion yacht project
Billionaire Frank Binder has put his Hollywood Hills home on the market for $35 million while advancing plans for a $2 billion residential super-yacht.
Frank Binder, heir to a pharmaceutical fortune, has listed his cliff-top Hollywood Hills mansion for $35 million, a price only $2 million above what he paid in 2018. The Lenny Kravitz-styled home boasts a 12-foot digital video wall, a floor-to-ceiling TV, retractable doors, a 70-foot infinity pool and a private underground nightclub. Binder also owns a nearby 4.5-acre parcel acquired for $29.5 million in 2018 after the collapse of the Woodbridge Group.
Concurrently, he is launching construction of the Ulyssia, a 1,060-foot residential yacht comparable in size to a US Navy carrier, with 15 decks, 122 apartments and amenities such as a school, hospital and two submarines. The vessel will sail under the Swiss flag and is slated to begin operations in 2031, with units priced from $10 million to $90 million. Binder expects to occupy the largest 10,700-sq-ft penthouse on the ship.
Why it matters
The sale highlights shifting luxury-real-estate values in LA, while the yacht project illustrates ultra-wealthy investors' move into unprecedented floating residences.
