Phil Foden receives red card after kicking Bruno Fernandes in Manchester derby

In the early stages of the Manchester derby, Manchester City’s Phil Foden was involved in a tussle with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes near the touchline. After being knocked down on the ball, Fernandes made contact with Foden's back as he tried to kick the ball. While still on the ground, Foden reacted by kicking both feet at Fernandes, hitting him in the abdomen.

Referee Michael Oliver immediately sent Foden off with a straight red card, a decision later upheld by VAR. The dismissal marked the first time a City player has been sent off in this fixture since 2006, reducing the team to ten men at Old Trafford. No further punishment was applied to Fernandes for his role in the incident.
