Philadelphia mechanic shot dead in Nicetown parking lot, investigation ongoing
Twenty-five-year-old Camille Joseph was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a Nicetown shopping-center lot and died at Temple University Hospital; police have not identified a suspect.
Camille Joseph, 25, emigrated from Haiti to Philadelphia after the 2010 earthquake and built a life as a mechanic and security guard at the Center City bar Time. On the evening of September 11, he was found in the parking lot of a Nicetown shopping center with several gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital. Police reports indicate that a second SUV entered the lot and crashed into a wall, after which an encounter between Joseph and the other driver led to the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene, taking Joseph’s SUV, and authorities are now requesting surveillance video from nearby businesses to clarify the sequence of events. Joseph’s sister, Ophtanie, has appealed for information, while a community benefit concert is planned at Time in his memory.
