Philippines and Slovakia launch labor consultation mechanism to deepen worker cooperation

A Labor Consultation Mechanism was created between the Philippines and the Slovak Republic after a joint communiqué was signed on September 28. The agreement was concluded by the Department of Migrant Workers, headed by Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, and Slovakia’s Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, with Ambassador Miloš Koterec as the Slovak signatory. The mechanism aims to provide a standing platform for dialogue on employment prospects, recruitment procedures and the mutual recognition of worker credentials.

Officials highlighted that the pact aligns with the Philippines’ goal of strengthening labor relations with nations hosting overseas Filipino workers and promotes ethical recruitment and migrant rights. The Slovak ambassador noted the potential for expanded cooperation beyond government channels, including education, culture and business exchanges. Both parties view the arrangement as a step toward inclusive growth and increased mobility for Filipino and Slovak workers.
