Philippines lifts jeepney fare suspension, raising minimum price to P14
The Department of Transportation approved a hike in jeepney fares, increasing the minimum fare from P13 to P14 starting Monday.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez signed off on the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's recommendation to end the fare-increase suspension imposed in March 2026. The new rates will take effect on September 28, with the basic fare for traditional jeepneys rising by one peso. Officials said the adjustment aims to keep enough public utility vehicles on the road and ensure commuters have reliable transport options.
