Philippines requests sevenfold increase for 2027 electric-vehicle program budget

Manila’s Department of Budget and Management has submitted a proposal seeking P228.92 million for the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Program in 2027. This request represents a 605.17 percent jump from the P32.46 million allotted in the 2026 budget. The additional funds are intended to back the EVision project, which will scope, implement and operate electric-vehicle infrastructure in selected government offices. The move aligns with the country’s goal of cutting reliance on imported fossil fuels and expanding cleaner transport options.
