Philippines sets goal to slash plastic waste by 85% by 2040
The Philippines unveiled a national roadmap aiming to cut plastic pollution by 85% by 2040, focusing on source reduction and improved recycling.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources introduced the Philippine National Plastic Action Roadmap 2026-2040 in Makati City. The plan calls for coordinated action among government agencies, businesses, local governments and communities to prevent plastic waste at its source and boost collection, recovery and recycling. DENR Secretary Juan Miguel “Mitch” Cuna highlighted the partnership with the World Economic Forum and the National Plastic Action Partnership Philippines as key to the strategy.
