Philippines to Host 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting in Cebu

The Philippines will hold the 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting and the 13th ADMM-Plus in Cebu City on Oct 28-29, under its 2026 ASEAN chairmanship.

The Department of National Defence confirmed that Cebu City will be the venue for the 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the 13th ADMM-Plus on Oct 28-29. The summit, titled “Navigating Our Future, Together,” falls within the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN chairmanship. Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr will preside over the sessions, steering discussions on bilateral defence cooperation and shared security interests.

Organisers intend the gatherings to reinforce defence collaboration among ASEAN members and eight dialogue partners. Since its inception in 2006, the ADMM has served as ASEAN’s top defence consultative forum, while the ADMM-Plus, launched in 2010, expands dialogue to include non-ASEAN countries. The Philippines hopes the event will advance its priority of a peaceful, secure and stable Indo-Pacific region.

Why it matters

The summit positions the Philippines as a regional security hub, shaping defence cooperation in Southeast Asia.
