Philippines transport agency to disburse cash aid to drivers amid rising diesel costs
The Department of Transportation announced a new round of cash assistance for drivers affected by higher diesel prices, using the DSWD’s crisis aid program.
The DOTr said it will release additional financial support for drivers and operators through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The move follows a recent meeting of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport Committee where a fare adjustment for public utility vehicles was discussed. Jetti Petroleum warned that diesel could rise by up to P10.50 per litre. The agency also confirmed that toll exemptions for provincial buses and fee waivers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange will remain in place.
