Photos show funeral and rubble after Israeli strike kills two women in Gaza

A funeral was held for Maysaa Abu Daoud and Mary al-Najjar, who were killed in an Israeli strike on a residential building in Gaza City's Rimal district on 3 October 2026.

On 3 October 2026 an Israeli strike hit a residential building in the Rimal neighbourhood of Gaza City, killing Maysaa Abu Daoud and her daughter Mary al-Najjar. A funeral was conducted at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Porphyrius in the Zaytoun neighbourhood, where Archbishop Alexios of Tiberias and the parish priest led the prayers. Mary’s daughter Esther received consolation from her father during the ceremony.

Photographs later showed locals examining the debris of the severely damaged structure, while Palestinian children passed by the site of the attack. The images capture both the personal loss and the broader devastation in the area.
