Pink’s Hot Dogs to Open First Japanese Outlet in Tokyo by Year-End

Los Angeles-based Pink’s Hot Dogs has signed a partnership with Sunpark to launch a Tokyo restaurant before the year closes.

Pink’s Hot Dogs, a Los Angeles staple that has served chili dogs since 1939, is preparing to open its first Japanese restaurant in Tokyo by the end of the year after reaching an agreement with the Japanese restaurant operator Sunpark. Sunpark, which also manages Takagi Coffee—famous for its soufflé pancakes—will oversee the new outlet. The Tokyo venue will feature a curated menu of 15 hot dogs, burgers and side dishes, incorporating toppings tailored to local tastes.

Pink’s currently operates six locations in Los Angeles and two near Las Vegas, plus international sites in Seoul and the Philippines, all run by local partners. Co-owner Richard Pink noted that a large share of its U.S. summer clientele are Japanese tourists, and he believes the brand’s history and Hollywood connection will resonate with Japanese customers. He also hinted at plans to open five to ten more stores in Japan over the next three years and is eyeing further expansion into Australia, Singapore and Mexico.

Why it matters

The launch marks a notable U.S. food brand entering the Japanese market, reflecting growing cross-cultural culinary interest.
