PJ HSIS Performs 69 Heart Procedures in One Day, Highlighting Cardiac Capacity

Yesterday, the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital Heart Centre (PJ HSIS) in Serdang, Selangor, completed 69 cardiology interventions, comprising 40 elective and 29 emergency procedures, four of them primary percutaneous coronary interventions for acute heart attacks. This volume represented 45% of the total cardiac cases performed by the ten Ministry of Health cardiac centres nationwide. The hospital performed 44 angiograms and 39 PCI procedures, alongside advanced treatments such as 13 IVUS-guided cases, four Rotapro rotational atherectomies and three intravascular lithotripsy sessions.

All seven cardiac catheterisation laboratories were active from 8 am to 6 pm, with four labs extending operations into the night. About 80 healthcare workers, including 14 cardiologists and 40 nurses or assistants, contributed to the effort. The Ministry praised the team’s efficiency and noted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recognition of the centre as a Cardiac Centre of Excellence.
