PKR targets 30% female slate for Melaka state election to broaden voter options
PKR will field women for 30% of its candidates in the upcoming Melaka state election, aiming to give voters a more inclusive choice.
During a programme in Nibong Tebal, Wanita PKR chief Fadhlina Sidek explained that the party will present women as 30% of its candidates for the Melaka state election, a step she believes will broaden voter choice and boost female representation in state politics. She noted that this aligns with Pakatan Harapan’s slogan "Melaka Rumah Kita," which the coalition is using in its campaign. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, also PH chairman, revealed that the coalition will field 21 candidates overall.
The Election Commission scheduled Oct 31 for nominations, Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for the poll. The move reflects PKR’s broader strategy to promote gender inclusivity ahead of the 16th Melaka State Election.
