Play suspended at DP World India Championship as darkness delays cut decision
A darkening sky forced officials to halt play at the DP World India Championship in Delhi, leaving the cut undecided and many players awaiting a restart.
Play at the DP World India Championship in Delhi was suspended shortly before 6 p.m. due to insufficient daylight, with many golfers still completing the second round at Delhi Golf Club. Patrick Reed, who had recorded a 3-under 69 and sits atop the Race to Dubai standings, was waiting to see if he would make the cut, projected around par. The clubhouse lead was shared by Angel Hidalgo, Adrian Meronk and Joost Luiten, each a few strokes ahead.
Competitors such as Min Woo Lee, Elvis Smylie, Ryan Peake and Jason Scrivener were unable to start their second rounds, while rivals Eugenio Chacarra and Rory McIlroy were also forced to leave the course early. The round is set to resume at 6.45 a.m. the next day, after a prior lightning delay had already pushed many first-round scores onto Friday.
Why it matters
The delay affects the tournament schedule and the Race to Dubai standings for top golfers.
