PN leader says fair competition could boost its showing in Malaysia's next election
Perikatan Nasional chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the coalition could improve its results in GE16 if all parties compete on an even footing.
At the SG4 Business and Economic Forum 2026 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Perikatan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar asserted that the coalition's prospects in the 15th General Election could be enhanced by ensuring all political parties compete fairly. He cited research and voter outreach that underpin PN's confidence, yet acknowledged that no group can be certain of winning GE16. Samsuri emphasized that a fair contest would allow PN to improve on its previous performance, describing the last election as a battle won but a war lost.
When asked about taking a leadership role in a future federal government, he said no decision had been made and that any such choice would be made when the time comes. He concluded that political leaders must be prepared to shoulder greater responsibilities when opportunities arise.
