PNB sets RM15 billion green investment goal by 2030 under new sustainability plan

Permodalan Nasional Bhd aims to invest RM15 billion in green and transition assets by 2030, adding to its existing RM8.1 billion portfolio.

Permodalan Nasional Bhd disclosed a goal to reach RM15 billion in green and transition asset investments by 2030, expanding on the RM8.1 billion already allocated. Under its Sustainability Framework 2026, the company also targets RM500 million for social investments and sets 16 measurable ESG objectives across its operations and stewardship. The framework rests on three pillars: organisational sustainability with a net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions commitment, responsible stewardship that includes portfolio decarbonisation and fair employment practices, and a nation-building agenda covering talent development, scholarships and community projects.

Rizal Rickman Ramli highlighted that the new plan builds on the 2022 framework, emphasizing responsible investment, long-term stewardship and social impact. He noted that PNB has already achieved its Net Zero Enterprise 2025 target, sourcing all electricity from renewable certificates. The initiative aims to ensure that the value generated from Malaysians’ savings benefits future generations while supporting a more resilient and inclusive Malaysia.

Why it matters

The plan directs substantial capital toward climate-friendly projects and social programs, influencing Malaysia's sustainable development.
