Pocket FM's AI-driven model lifts annual revenue run rate to $500 million
Pocket FM, the Indian audio storytelling platform, has doubled its annualised revenue run rate to $500 million by scaling content creation with artificial intelligence.
Pocket FM, founded in 2018 as a platform for serialized audio stories, has seen its annualised revenue run rate climb from $250 million to $500 million after embracing generative AI for content creation. AI now underpins 93% of the existing library and produces 99% of fresh episodes, allowing 100 hours of content that once took a year to be produced in a single day, reducing costs roughly 80 times. The platform’s 550,000+ creators are delivering about 2.5 million hours of AI-augmented audio annually, up from 100,000 hours two years earlier, which has helped lift the 12-month revenue retention rate to 76%.
The United States accounts for roughly 70% of the $500 million run rate, with $85 million coming from advertising and the rest from paid episode unlocks. Pocket Entertainment, the parent company, has also introduced Pocket Saga, a micro-drama app whose content is entirely AI-generated, and is in talks to raise $100-120 million at a $2 billion valuation to fund further AI development and new entertainment formats.
