Podcast revisits 1970s Honorah Parker murder and explores possible legal review
A new episode of the true-crime podcast A Moment In Crime examines the 1970s killing of Honorah Parker and discusses whether her conviction could be reconsidered under New Zealand law.
On a sunny June afternoon, Honorah Parker, 46, was brutally assaulted on a secluded path in Victoria Park, Port Hills, and died from injuries described by police as “battered to pieces.” Two teenage girls were later found guilty of her murder, with a jury dismissing claims of insanity. The case gained international attention after Sir Peter Jackson’s film Heavenly Creatures.
In early 2024, one outlet’s podcast A Moment In Crime featured host Anna Leask interviewing Juliet Parker’s brother Jonathan, who believes his sister suffered a major psychotic disorder and wonders if New Zealand law allows her conviction to be revisited. The podcast, available on major platforms, has reached listeners in over 170 countries and was nominated for a 2024 Radio and Podcast Award.
