Poland eyes permanent US base with Trump expected to attend opening

Nawrocki said that creating a permanent US military base in Poland is now only a question of timing, with remaining hurdles limited to administrative and funding issues. He added that once the US administration and both governments finish their work, President Trump could attend the base's opening ceremony. The Polish government aims to see the project realized before the conclusion of Trump's term in 2029, which would transform the US military footprint from primarily rotational deployments to a standing base.

Recent months have seen accelerated activity, including a US delegation visiting Poland to assess possible sites. Earlier this year, Trump announced significant progress on the US Army base and hinted that a location would be announced soon. The concept first emerged in 2018 but stalled until the Russian invasion of Ukraine revived Polish interest in a stronger, permanent NATO presence.
