Poland launches its first space-focused investment fund with international partners
Poland is establishing a new venture fund dedicated to space-related companies, backed by domestic agencies and the global satellite firm Iceye.
Poland is set to create a pioneering space-technology venture fund, the inaugural fund of this profile in the country, aimed at companies poised for swift expansion. The fund will provide financing in the tens-of-millions of zł, with a portfolio expected to hold around fifteen to twenty Polish firms, though European companies with a Polish base may also be considered. Iceye, a world leader in satellite reconnaissance systems, joins as a strategic partner, bringing scaling expertise.
Additional partners are Krakowski Park Technologiczny, the Ministry of Development and Technology and the Polish Space Agency, while Kraków will play a central role thanks to its university departments and the Space Tech ecosystem. The fund’s strategy targets six key areas: satellites, optics and Earth observation, satellite communications, electronics and photonics, rockets and propulsion, and data and AI. BGK’s broader investment programme includes this fund alongside two others managed by Vinci, though specific monetary totals are not disclosed.
