Poland's President approves removal of SOP commander after disciplinary suspension

Brigadier General Radosław Jaworski, who had been barred from performing his duties since January due to a disciplinary investigation launched by the Ministry of Interior and Administration, was officially relieved of his post as commander of the State Protection Service. President Karol Nawrocki, after discussion and agreement with Jaworski, gave consent to the dismissal, as required by the law governing the service. The president's spokesperson highlighted that the minister, Marcin Kierwiński, holds direct accountability for the agency that safeguards top state officials.

During Jaworski's suspension, Colonel Tomasz Jackowicz initially assumed command, and later Colonel Maciej Lewiński took over the role. The removal follows a series of leadership changes triggered by a high-profile theft of a Lexus belonging to former Prime Minister Donald Tusk's family.
