Poland spends over 600 million zł on Starlink for Ukraine, station sabotage reported

Poland has allocated more than 600 million zł to purchase and operate Starlink terminals for Ukraine, and a Polish ground station was deliberately set on fire.

Poland has devoted more than 600 million zł from its state budget to acquire and maintain Starlink terminals for use by Ukraine, a figure compiled from annual allocations disclosed by the Ministry of Digitisation. Expenditures amounted to 202.3 mln zł in 2022-23, 120.5 mln zł in 2024, 132.7 mln zł in 2025, and 25.5 mln zł in one outlet year, with a standing contract of 143.3 mln zł that runs through the end of December 2026; no agreement for 2027 has been signed yet.

On 23 September, a Starlink ground station in Wola Krobowska, about 50 km south of Warsaw, was set ablaze, destroying power equipment and a backup generator. Polish officials labeled the fire a sabotage act linked to Russian services, and the prime minister described it as another hybrid-war tactic. Security services have arrested a Ukrainian citizen suspected of involvement, following earlier surveillance and the participation of two Turkish nationals in the arson.

Why it matters

The funding shows Poland's significant support for Ukraine's communications, while the sabotage highlights ongoing hybrid-war threats on critical infrastructure.
