Poles largely back presidential signing of fuel profit tax bill, poll shows
A recent SW Research poll for Wprost found most respondents want President Karol Nawrocki to sign the law on excess profits of fuel companies.
SW Research carried out an online poll for Wprost on 22-23 September, interviewing 864 Polish adults. The questionnaire asked whether President Karol Nawrocki should sign a law targeting excess profits of fuel corporations, and most respondents answered affirmatively. Support was higher among men than women, and strongest among earners of 5,000-7,000 zł net monthly and inhabitants of towns up to 20,000 residents.
Those with basic vocational education were the least likely to expect the president to sign, though a majority in that group still favored it. The poll reflects public opinion ahead of the president’s own proposal to replace the tax with a “Fuel Costs Normal” bill after deeming one outlet measure unconstitutional.
