Poles say government-president clash hampers national security response
A recent SW Research poll commissioned by Onet.pl finds that most Poles believe the dispute between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki makes it harder for the country to address security threats.
SW Research carried out an internet-based poll for Onet.pl on September 29-30, 2026, interviewing 800 adults across Poland. Respondents were asked if the ongoing clash between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Karol Nawrocki hinders the nation’s ability to respond to security risks. Most participants said the conflict does create difficulties, while a minority disagreed and some chose not to answer.
The distribution of answers was consistent between men and women and across most age brackets, with those aged 50 and above showing the highest level of concern. The study employed a quota sampling method to ensure representation by gender, age and size of place of residence.
Why it matters
Public perception of political infighting may affect confidence in Poland's ability to handle security challenges.
