Police arrest daily-wage worker after CCTV shows assault of child at Pune temple
Nigdi police detained a daily-wage laborer for allegedly assaulting a minor girl inside a temple near Pune, using CCTV footage to identify him.
A minor girl was allegedly assaulted at a temple near Pune while accompanying her parents on Sunday. CCTV recordings from the temple showed a daily-wage worker entering the site and purportedly committing the abuse, enabling police to pinpoint the suspect. Senior Inspector Mahesh Bansode confirmed that a case was registered soon after the incident was reported.
Nigadi police arrested the man on Monday, though his name has not been released. He has been charged under Section 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for outraging a woman's modesty, as well as Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexual assault and harassment of a child.
