Police arrest suspect in Virginia homicide after alleged affair exposed to girlfriend

Fairfax County Police Department announced the arrest of a 19-year-old man linked to a homicide after a co-worker reportedly exposed their clandestine relationship to his girlfriend. Police chief Kevin Davis called the killing premeditated, citing surveillance footage of the suspect arming himself with a fixed-blade knife, black latex gloves and a water bottle before departing the restaurant where both he and the victim were employed.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the suspect entered the country illegally and was released into the interior after his 2024 border apprehension. Witnesses said the victim had sent screenshots of the affair to the suspect’s girlfriend, prompting the violent response. The suspect confessed to luring the victim to a parking lot and attempting to set her on fire, but the fire attempt failed. He was taken into custody, extradited to Virginia and is being held without bond.
