Police Board fines social media influencers for illegal gambling promotion

According to documents obtained from the Police Board, six private persons were fined for breaching gambling-marketing restrictions, among them social-media personality Anthony Singh and businessman Jethro Rostedt. The penalties accompany marketing prohibition decisions, and other streamers like Jyri Karvanen and Riku Virtanen are included in the list. This year the Board received about 20% more reports of illegal gambling promotion than last year and has issued five new marketing bans, compared with six the previous year and four the year before.

Fines range between 20,000 and 33,000 euros, and the Board can also block payment services or pursue criminal charges with up to two years in prison. Meanwhile, Finland’s regulated online gambling market is set to launch in July 2027, with 75 licence applications received so far; each costs 29,000 euros and is processed by the Licensing and Supervision Authority within three to six months.
