Police chief says viral podcast misrepresents 2016 drug case near Sentul mosque

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said a popular podcast falsely recounted a 2016 drug-trafficking investigation near a mosque close to the Sentul police headquarters.

A recent viral video from the @Sembangohhyeahh podcast described a journalist’s undercover assignment to uncover drug-trafficking activities near a mosque adjacent to the Sentul district police headquarters in 2016. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said three police reports were lodged on July 12, 2016, and that the podcast’s content is simply a retelling of a guest’s earlier experience, not a new investigation.

He noted that the podcast’s claims of inaction were inaccurate and could create a negative perception of the police force. Marsus emphasized the need for responsible sharing of such information to protect the institution’s credibility. The police remain committed to maintaining public trust and safety.
