Police conduct 21 raids across Bucharest and 11 counties in shepherds' protest case

Police executed 21 search warrants in Bucharest and 11 counties as part of the investigation into violent incidents at the shepherds' protest.

In a coordinated operation, police executed 21 search warrants in Bucharest and in the counties of Giurgiu, Călărași, Teleorman, Argeș, Brăila, Maramureș, Galați, Sălaj, Mureș, Brașov and Iași. The action follows a criminal case concerning violent acts during a shepherds' protest held in Victory Square, where participants allegedly threw objects, used fireworks, and assaulted gendarmerie personnel. Investigators also allege physical attacks on two employees of a media trust present at the scene and the vandalism of a gendarmerie special vehicle.

The operation was supported by regional police inspectorates and gendarmerie intervention teams. To date, 28 suspects have been placed in preventive detention for 30 days, six have been ordered to remain under house arrest, and four are under judicial control.

Why it matters
