Police confirm bomb threat at Mid Valley Southkey mall was hoax

An email bomb threat targeting The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey was declared a hoax after police inspected the site and found no explosives.

Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arshad said an email bomb threat aimed at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey was received late last night. The mall’s management reported the threat at 11.31 pm, leading to the dispatch of the bomb disposal unit (UPB) from the Johor police contingent headquarters, assisted by the unit from the South Johor Baru district headquarters. Inspectors searched the premises inside and out, discovering a few suspicious objects that were later examined and found to be non-explosive.

No bomb was detected, and the police declared the site completely safe. Arshad emphasized that any explosive threat is taken seriously and that swift action was taken to protect the public.
