Police confirm no word on Najib Razak's move to house arrest
Authorities say they have not received any notice about former prime minister Najib Razak being transferred from Kajang Prison to his home for house arrest.
Early morning patrols showed a police van and traffic cones around the former prime minister's home on Jalan Langgak Duta, yet police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said there were no special preparations because no transfer notice had been received. The police have not been contacted by the Prisons Department regarding any move from Kajang Prison. Najib's counsel, Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, confirmed that a house-arrest order from King Sultan Ibrahim exists, but details remain undisclosed per prison authorities.
The order allows Najib to serve the remainder of his SRC International case sentence at home until August 2028, contingent on paying a RM50 million fine. Earlier reports of a mobile police station near the house were intended to protect media, residents, and supporters and to manage traffic, but no concrete plans have been confirmed.
