Police Detain 23-Year-Old Suspect in Amsterdam Woman's Death Inside Suitcase
Dutch authorities have arrested a 23-year-old man of Somali origin in connection with the killing of 29-year-old Hajar, whose body was found in a suitcase in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam prosecutors announced the detention of a 23-year-old Somali-origin man suspected of murdering 29-year-old Hajar, whose remains were discovered in a suitcase recovered from the Amsteldijk canal. The suspect, who does not have a permanent address, appeared in CCTV footage alongside Hajar at the RAI venue, though police said the video showed no overt threat. After being questioned as a witness, additional inquiries prompted authorities to label him a suspect and seize him during a violent incident in the West-Frisian municipality of Koggenland, where he was found with an injured man.
The man holds an indefinite residence permit and has been in the Netherlands six times. The investigation continues, with officials urging the public to refrain from speculation.
